New Year Offers New GreenSchools! Learning Opportunities
After a busy and eventful 2011, the PLT GreenSchools! program team is looking ahead to an exciting new year for GreenSchools! Starting next month, we’ll be offering new professional development opportunities to help teachers, students, administrators, community members, and other Green Team members make the most of the GreenSchools! Investigations.
Beginning on Wednesday, February 1, and continuing once a month through May, we’ll be hosting a new series of hour-long GreenSchools! webinars, each focused on a different GreenSchools! Investigation. We’re grateful to our partner, the U.S. Forest Service, for generous funding to support the webinars, which will be available at no charge.
Our first webinar,
Transforming Schools with GreenSchools! Energy Investigations
, will focus on the Energy investigation, with featured speakers Caterina (Katy) Hatcher, ENERGY STAR National Manager for the Public Sector at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, and Richard Klein, Master Teacher at The Monarch School, a GreenSchool in Houston, Texas. Together, Katy, Richard and members of the Monarch School’s Green Team will provide you with the tools and tips you need to implement the Energy Investigation on the ground in your own school and community.
Anyone—teachers, students, individuals or groups—can participate. We encourage you to consider registering your school’s entire Green Team to attend as a group.
So get ready for some great learning opportunities in this new year. To register (remember, it’s free) and learn more about the webinars, go to www.plt.org/webinars, or contact Rachel Bayer at rbayer@plt.org.
When you register for the webinar, don’t forget to resubscribe to our newly redesigned PLT e-newsletter, The Branch to get notices about upcoming webinars, plus many more tools, tips and resources for educators who want to make the most of the PLT GreenSchools! program.
