PLT GreenSchools! Grant Applications Due September 30!
Are you a registered PLT GreenSchool! with big ideas about how to make your school and community greener? Need some “green” to help make it happen?
PLT GreenWorks! grants are available to help school Green Teams make their projects a reality. But you’ll need to hurry! The application deadline is September 30.
Two types of grants are available:
- Traditional PLT GreenWorks! grants are given in amounts up to $1,000. These grants are available for both school and community improvement projects.
- New this year is a special grant program available only to registered PLT GreenSchools! These grants, available in amounts up to $3,000, support action projects related to the Energy, Water, Waste & Recycling, School Site, and Environmental Quality PLT GreenSchools! Investigations.
Do your students want to create a schoolyard garden? Invest in energy-saving equipment? Start a school or community recycling program? Plant trees on your school property? Funds are available through the GreenWorks! grant program.
If your school is not yet registered, go to the brand-new PLT GreenSchools! website and sign up. It’s free, and will give you access to a whole range of tools and resources to help you and your students green your school.
Once you’ve registered, formed a Green Team, and completed at least one of the five PLT GreenSchools! Investigations, you will be eligible to apply for one of the special GreenSchools! grants. If you’d like some inspiration, check out the profiles of some PLT GreenSchools! in action. While you’re there, you can sign up for our quarterly PLT newsletter, The Branch. Each issue is full of inspiring and practical ideas for implementing Project Learning Tree in the classroom.
With help from a PLT GreenWorks! grant, your school could be on its way to doing exciting projects like those featured on the PLT GreenSchools! website. Don’t delay. The application deadline is September 30.
