  • The cost of treating drinking water increases 20 percent for every loss of 10 percent of forest land in a watershed (U.S. Forest Service)
  • Egypt's fig and palm trees are at risk of disappearing due to overuse and climate change (Treehugger)
  • "The tree seems to be a potent symbol of life in human...culture," immunology Ph.D. candidate Kevin Bonham said of his double helix tree tattoo. Check it out (New York Times)
  • Beijing hosted Asia-Pacific Forestry Week, and an anticipated 1,500 delegates turned out to discuss forests and forestry in the region.  Read conference updates on the event's blog.
  • Five Project Learning Tree GreenSchools! students recently presented at a National Science Teachers Association conference in Connecticut (AFF)
  • In honor of Veterans Day weekend, entrance fees have been waived at all national parks and forests this weekend.  Get outside this weekend - and be sure to thank a service member today and everyday!
