More than 170 million people visit national forests for recreation each year, and the physical activity associated with these visits burns 290 billion food calories (Science Daily) - Communities and organizations around the globe are celebrating the 2011 International Year of Forests. This week, the Cities for Forests campaign was launched to teach youth about India's forest cover and opportunities for its preservation (Times of India)
