For the Love of Our Woods

February 14, 2013 at 1:10 pm by Jennifer Jones

Happy Valentine’s Day, forest lovers!

Apart from the cards and flowers and chocolates we might all be sharing with loved ones today, let’s make it a resolution to spread the love of private forests with someone we know.

One of the best ways to do that is to tell a woodland owner about MyLandPlan.org an online resource developed by woodland owners for woodland owners.

It’s a fun and easy way to explore all the ways to enjoy our woods and to learn about taking easy steps to keep our woodlands loving us back! At the American Forest Foundation, we’re all about giving family forest owners the tools they need to make the best decisions for their land.

All over the country, private forest  owners are protecting America’s forest legacy for the benefit of all of us. Just last weekend, I had the pleasure of cross country skiing at White Grass, an amazing recreational haven made possible by the generosity of a private owner who leases his land to White Grass. The large tract is vital to ensuring other public lands in Canaan Valley, West Virginia can be connected one to the other to support healthy populations of flora and fauna…and us humans!

On this Valentine’s Day, let us know what you love about your woods and spread the love with other woodland owners you know! Tell a woodland owner about My Land Plan today!
