As vice president of entrepreneurship and technology strategy at the American Forest Foundation, Alastair Jarvis stays on the cutting edge of emerging technologies, coaching teams on Agile frameworks and supporting them as they develop business models to achieve our vision of measurable, verifiable conservation impact from family forests.
Alastair became a family forest owner himself after being called to rural life by an opportunity to create video games in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. He was inspired to take what he’d learned in the video game industry and apply it to real-world problems. For example, he collaborated with a team at the IWK Health Sciences Centre to build the first video game played in an MRI machine, with a goal of transforming the experience for children.
He also partnered with Will Martin to unlock the economics of ecological forestry on family forest lands through technology innovation. Together, they founded WoodsCamp, a venture that became part of the American Forest Foundation in 2018.
