As vice president of finance and administration at the American Forest Foundation, Monica Poveda uses her skills and experience to lead strategic financial, accounting and compliance organizational frameworks to accelerate the impact and mission of our programs and initiatives.
Monica credits her love of conservation to treasured time she spent with her grandmother at an early age in the eastern plains of Colombia where she witnessed the most beautiful sunrises. She went on to earn a law degree and an MBA, but never lost her appreciation for the land. She decided early on to apply her expertise to conservation-related work in order to have an impact in the most pressing challenges humanity faces.
After managing financial strategy and operations of a $110M global budget at The Nature Conservancy, Monica was drawn to the American Forest Foundation in 2020 because of our ambitious approach.
