Forester Spotlight: Baylor Wayman
Supporting Landowners In: Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina
Educational Background: Major in Environmental Resource Management and Forestry
Baylor Wayman’s passion for the outdoors started early, and over time, it evolved into a meaningful career in forestry and environmental stewardship. Based just outside of Lynchburg, Virginia, Baylor now works across three states—VA, WV, and NC—to support landowners through the Family Forest Carbon Program.

Spending much of his childhood outside, Baylor witnessed how landscapes changed over time. That experience stuck with him and sparked a desire to protect the natural world. "Growing up in the outdoors and seeing how much it has changed in my short time here really motivated me to be a part of the community, trying to mitigate change and preserve our natural resources," he says.
Baylor’s professional journey began early, with hands-on experience at the Virginia Department of Forestry while still in high school. He continued his work in the field through college with the U.S. Forest Service, experiences that shaped his understanding of forestry and solidified his commitment to conservation.
Today, one of Baylor’s favorite parts of being an FFCP forester is the opportunity to build lasting relationships with local landowners. “Being able to help landowners that are local to me and making connections and relationships that last into the future” is what makes his work truly meaningful.
Baylor is confident that no matter where his career leads, protecting forests and supporting the communities who care for them will remain at the heart of his work.
